About Me |
|
In 1996, I stumbled into the fitness business accidentally. I had hired a personal trainer to help me lose weight after having a baby, but didn’t see the results I wanted. After seeing an ad in the paper for a personal training certification, I asked my trainer what certifications he held. I was then informed that there is no regulation that trainers have to be certified. Basically, what he was trying to tell me without saying the words is that even though he was employed by a gym and sold his services as a professional trainer, he was not certified. He had no education in how to properly train me or any of his other clients. Needless to say, I fired him and spent the money that I had been spending on a “trainer” to become a certified trainer myself. After that class, I was hooked. Six months later, I went for my first aerobics certification. I found that I loved exercise and I loved learning new forms of exercise. I started training friends and family and I eventually had to quit my accounting job to be a full time trainer. Since then, I’ve completed several more certification courses, a two-year diploma course, an associates degree in allied health with a concentration in sports medicine, and am currently in school for a bachelors in exercise physiology. A trainer is only as good as their education. Therefore, in order to be the best trainer I can be, I continually strive to learn the latest scientifically proven strategies to achieving fitness. I do this so that I can be the best trainer YOU will ever hire. |
